Energy efficiency as a unifying principle for human, environmental, and global health

Insights beyond reductionist views of efficiency are needed to encourage integrated changes in the use of the world’s natural resources, with the aim of achieving a wiser use of energy, better farming systems, and healthier dietary habits. This perspective highlights a range of scientific-based opportunities for cost-effective pro-growth and pro-health policies while using less energy and natural resources.

Bioethanol production using vegetable peels medium and the effective role of cellulolytic bacterial (Bacillus subtilis) pre-treatment

The requirement of an alternative clean energy source is increasing with the elevating energy demand of modern age. Bioethanol is considered as an excellent candidate to satiate this demand. The objective of the project is to establish a highly efficient microbial fermentation process by natural yeast isolates to produce bioethanol.

A short review on the potential of coffee husk gasification for sustainable energy in Uganda

Uganda, like other developing countries, has a high dependency (91%) on wood fuel, leading to environmental degradation. The objective of this article is to briefly review the energy potential of coffee husks through gasification, and how the gasification process could increase energy recoveries for coffee farmers.

Analysis and study of the potential increase in energy output generated by prototype solar tracking, roof mounted solar panels

This article presents a possibility of creating a roof mounted solar tracking panel to increase its efficiency. Based on the study, the authors attempt to draw a conclusion whether the design could considerably increase the solar energy output to be worth the extra spending associated with solar tracker installation.
